tons of questions

At school the kids love to ask questions about the Netherlands and Canada. These questions, bizarrely, range from: ‘do you have dogs at home?’ to ‘what is the main export of your country?’. One of the questions they asked Julia was: ‘How many children do you have?’. Just for reference, Julia is 22. So she was not really expecting the question and started laughing, too surprised to answer. When we got home, Julia told me the story, and I laughed with her at the absurdity, the alienness of such a question. And Elijah was sitting next to us, not laughing at all, not at all understand what was so funny about that question, which cracked us up even more.

A few days later the kids were asking me questions, and this time they changed their question into: ‘Do you have children?’ instead. So I guess that’s already a success, we have done a little to broaden their horizons.
